Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Training
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification will train and certify participants to be a swimming instructor, valid for 2 years. Water Safety Instructor Training is a blended learning format course, with both online and classroom components.
****This is not a lifeguard training****
Course objectives include classroom management, lesson planning, effective feedback methods, handling & safety of participants, hydrodynamic principles, stroke development/refinement, and safety training.
Water Safety Instructor training is critical to the application of water safety principles and utilizes a program that has over 100 years of experience teaching non-swimmers the principles of self-rescue, basic stroke development, and how to interact safely with aquatic environments.
Taught by a year-round aquatics professional with over 30 years of aquatics programming experience, with a BS in Exercise Science, and one of the few Red Cross "Learn to Swim" Program Administrators on the Central Coast.
All participants who complete the training will be guaranteed a job interview for a swim instructor position with Cuesta College Community Programs.
DATES: Sat/Sun: May 6, 7, 13 & 14, 2017
TIME: 9:00am - 4:00pm
FEE: $165 for class
