Rowling, Tolkien and Lewis—Comparing and Contrasting Their Classical Roots, Times, Lives, Works, Themes, and Literary Cultural Contributions
Lively, discussion-rich class in its 17th version :-) Now morphed into a truly philosophical endeavor that includes introductions to classical Logic and Rhetoric. If you are a word nerd, and love to read and discuss your opinions about some of the three best series for middle and high school, do join us. Returning students will want to close out their previous Potter and Argument 101 classes with this offering!
Pre-requisites: A Love of Reading/Books. A love of friendly conversation and/or discussions. Must have read (or listened to) Harry Potter series (at least 5 of the books); Must have some familiarity with Tolkien’s Ring books (may or may not include The Hobbit). Must have some familiarity with Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia. Enjoyment of or appreciation for friendly disagreement(s) is a plus :-)
